As we can see from the above image, the pedestrians on the sidewalk will be coming within inches of vehicle traffic. One can only imaging the dangers involved with walking along a street where side view mirrors will literally be zooming right beside you while you try to walk along the sidewalk.

When we add the STM buses into the mix, with their oversized and notoriously dangerous side view mirrors, Cote Ste Catherine will become one of the most dangerous streets to walk along in the whole city.

This will be a huge negative for Outremont, which prides itself on being a safe and tranquil community. This can all be attributed to poor public planning and misguided politicians.

We must urge the city to create a safer and more user friendly bike path:

Contact your local politicians

Borough councilor and Mayor of Outremont

Marie Cinq-Mars – 514 495 6220

mariecinq-mars@ville.montreal.qc.ca

Borough councilor

Marie Potvin – 514 495 6248

marie.potvin@ville.montreal.qc.ca

Tell them that we must design a better bike path for Cote Ste Catherine - A bike path that will be safer for cyclists, and which will allow pedestrians to safely use the sidewalk while also helping to reduce excessive motorist speed on Cote Ste Catherine
